ELM GROVE, LA ''' Services for William F. "Bill" Ketchens will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Bro. Billy Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends for visitation on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Bill was born on September 6, 1934 to William, Sr. and Octavia Ketchens in Walters, LA. He was raised in the Baptist faith and continued serving the Lord in the churches he attended....

Bill was born on September 6, 1934 to William, Sr. and Octavia Ketchens in Walters, LA. He was raised in the Baptist faith and continued serving the Lord in the churches he attended. He served in U.S. Army from 1954-1957, then he began his career as a Merchant Mariner Master Captain. Bill retired after 46 years then he was a part time captain at Diamond Jacks and Boomtown Casinos. He enjoyed bird watching, wood working, painting, deer hunting, and football. He loved playing cards with family and friends most of all his greatest joy was being with his family. He was affectionately known as "Pap-paw" to his grandchildren. Bill "Pap-paw" went peacefully after a long battle with numerous health issues to meet Jesus on March 24, 2015 surrounded by everyone he loved.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Myrna Loy Dumas Ketchens, son Michael D. Ketchens of Princeton, daughter Janet Walker and husband Joe of Elm Grove, granddaughter Dawn Brossette and partner Jacob Stevens of Bossier City, grandsons Dustin Walker and wife Piathip of Bossier City, Daniel and Dalton Walker of Elm Grove, La. The light of his last three and a half years that continuously made him smile until his last moment; his great granddaughter, Isabelle Stevens "Purty Gurl" of Bossier City and he is also survived by two nieces and five nephews.
Pallbearers will be Joe Walker, Dustin Walker, Daniel Walker, Dalton Walker, Phil Loar, Gary Rainwater Grayson and Seth Russell.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Richard Kamm for seeing our dad from the beginning to the end, Dr. Jason Nelson, Dr. Kitchings and staff, Dr. Leslie Sewell and staff, Dr. Chris Wilson & staff, WK Home Health Jaime Cooke, Belinda Gumbel and the fourth and seventh floor nurses at WK Pierremont.
